Fibromyalgia Treatment and Relief

Which fibromyalgia treatment will give you the most relief? What about home remedies to help manage your fibromyalgia pain? Once you've been diagnosed, treatments for fibromyalgia include quite a few things you can do to help ease your pain.

Fibromyalgia pain relief begins with you. Talk to your doctor about prescription drugs and over-the-counter pain relief medications you can take. Here are some treatments your doctor may recommend. Unfortunately there isn't a quick & easy pill you can pop to treat your fibromyalgia symptoms.

Fibromyalgia Treatments

  • OTC Drugs: Drugs such as Aleve, Advil and Tylenol can help with mild to moderate pain associated with fibromyalgia pain. Your doctor may prescribe a combination since the active ingredients are different in each drug.
  • Anti-depressants: Your doctor may prescribe anti-depressants to help you sleep and also end the pain and anxiety that often accompanies fibromyalgia. Cymbalta, Prozac and Lyrica are examples.
  • Warm Moist Heat: Warm, moist heat from a shower, bath or Snugg® can be a Godsend. A warm heating pad placed at the back of your neck, where trouble often lies, may provide soothing, sudden comfort while you're reclining, and another one at your feet can be heavenly.
  • Exercise: Exercise is key to relieving your fibromyalgia pain. In fact, exercise allows you to kill three "fibro birds" at once! 1-Exercise increases the production of endorphins which are your body's natural pain killers. 2- Increased endorphin production lifts your mood and reduces depression. 3- More exercise will help you sleep better at night. • Physical Therapy: A physical therapist will help you make changes to your life and daily routine that can help you take control of your fibromyalgia instead of it controlling you!
  • Meditation: Meditation has been touted as helping clear mental fog. We love it around here!

Since symptoms are not always constant, people with fibromyalgia will have good days and bad days. On a bad day, accept the help of those who offer. Get as much rest as your routine allows. Avoid stressful situations as much as is possible, and if pampering yourself is what it takes to make you feel better, by all means, do it!

A great way to pamper yourself at night is to get a memory foam mattress or topper. Check out these reviews to find the best mattresses for you.

Feel better soon! We wish you the best!
